International Auction Galleries has been a leading Australian Auction House since its establishment in 1985. We specialise in High Quality "Boutique" style Coin and Banknote Auctions that whilst small in size, are big in results, and focus mainly on selling the Rarest Numismatic items available. Our Auction Sales, of which we do 2 specialised sales a year, are always seen as one of the yearly Numismatic highlights. As at the end of 2011, we have done 75 Coin Auctions over a period of 26 years, and have achieved over $95 Million in total sales.
Our Coin and Banknote Sales continue to be one of the Market leaders in Rare and Investment items, and are continually setting new Record Prices. We also hold several current pricing "World Records", including the highest price ever for any Australian Numismatic Item, and the highest price achieved at any Numismatic auction in Australia. In 2008 we sold 2 items in consecutive sales for over $1,000,000 each. Our last 11 auctions have broken countless records, and we have sold in excess of $28,000,000 in these alone!! (See Download section for our current or previous Catalogues and prices realised).
Paul Hannaford, a Professional Dealer for over 27 years, is IAG's Numismatic specialist and the Auction co-ordinator. Paul is considered one of the leading Numismatic Experts on Australian Coin and Banknote Rarities, and is a past National President of A.N.D.A. (The Australasian Numismatic Dealers Association). Paul is also the longest ever serving ANDA Committee member, having stood for the last 14 years and counting, including serving as Vice President for 6 years, chairing numerous specialised Numismatic related sub committees, and also headed the Ethics and Good Conduct Committee (E&GCC).
IAG recognises that people selling or buying through auction need to feel confident with the company they are dealing with. As such, we guarantee that all auction items are always expertly checked to ensure they are genuine, are correctly described and are always accurately graded. All items are also priced at a fair and current market price, to ensure you get the most out of all our auction estimates. We take pride in every aspect of our business, and continually strive to better it.
Our commission rates are the most competitive in Australia, with single items of $50,000 plus and collections totalling more than $250,000 paying no commission or fees at all (0% commission). Bullion and collectable gold lots attract only 5.5% commission (with no buyers premium), and all other items are a low 10%. We also have the most competitive buyer's premium of only 16.5% (Including GST). This means that both Buyers and Sellers are the winners in our auctions. Combine this with the best range of Rare Coins and Banknotes around, and you can see why we have become:
The Leaders in Numismatic Auctions in Australia.
