Lot: 1304     Category: Australian And Related Coin Rarities
Description: 1920 Kookaburra Pattern Penny Type 10. PCGS graded SP 63 (61264268). The excessively rare Crowned Head type. With only a handful of examples of this type known, this is the key coin in the Kookaburra Penny series, and is unique in the crowned portrait of George V. A superb example, with light salmon toning and good fields. Ex the Le Soeuf collection (the former Melbourne Mint Master), and the Osborne Collection of Patterns and Proofs Spink Nobles S 42 July 1993 (Lot 1424). Last offered in IAG Sale 69 March 2009 (Lot 324 - sold for $343,675). With tag as sold previously for $395,000. Extremely rare and a highly important coin that is seldom offered.   FDC
